Spring Break Insurance

Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of car crashes in the world. According to the National Safety Council there has been an estimated 201,543 car crashes in the United States involving drivers using cell phones and texting. This number is increased about every 24 seconds. With spring break right around the corner for most high schools and colleges, there will be many distracted drivers on the road. For most of these teens and young adults, they have a mind set of partying and engaging in excessive binge drinking. According to the Journal of American College Health spring breakers will consume 18 drinks a day for guys and 10 for girls. MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) is a widely known organization that encourages families to educate one another against drunk driving. Their mission statement includes, “The mission of Mothers Against Drunk Driving is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking.” MADD states that every 53 minutes on average, someone is killed in a drunk driving crash. They also claim that Americans take about 233 billion trips in cars each year. About one out of every two thousand trips is taken by those who are driving under the influence of alcohol. Unfortunately, almost one out of every three traffic deaths involves drunk driving. MADD has provided their readers with tons of statistics and important information. To read more about their organization you can visit http://www.madd.org/ .Thousands of these trips will be taken during spring break. The list goes on and on with statistics, but only you can make a difference to protect yourself and the ones you love.
